At Khe Sanh during the Siege, depending on who you talk to, there were about 1800 given for wounds, and about 445 KIA. Some got two like my Bro Jim Post. To many died to make, Westmorlin and Giap look good. I Miss You Bros. |
This list only covers the first 10 months of C.B.M.U.301's time in Country. Yes I am listed, over half of this list got theirs in Khe San. The 2 KIA's were at Khe Sanh. Sherbrooks 1st on left also received the Bronze star for pulling Marines out of the Ammo Dump at Dong Ha when it was hit 3 Sept,1967.

Rough Terrain Fork Lift. I was blown off this twice the second time, was a direct hit right front tire and fuel tank. I ran away with not a scratch, but a flack jacket full of scrapmetal. |

TD 25 Bull Dozer. I was a Magnet,Every Vehicle I operated got at least, 1 Purple Heart. Check out the scrapmetal holes. I walked away from every one of these with out a scratch. |

More Incomming, you hope to NOT, get caught out on the Air Strip, when they decided to say Hi. |

Fixing the Air Strip. Yes there is a war going on. Our MAIN job was to keep the Air Strip OPEN. Just for your information there were NO! bunkers or trenches close to the Strip. When we caught incomming, I droped the blade on the dozer, and crawled under it. Other wise we ran like HELL for cove. |

After 1 day of shelling, our nice tents and hardback buildings, were full of holes. The ones that were left standing anyway. After a week Khe Sanh was flat, nothing more than a grabage dump. |

Hey Marine You looking for a ride? When leaving Khe Sanh, you took your gear, stood by the strip, the choppers came dropped their load, while moving, and then you throw your gear on, jump on, and pull the next guy and his gear on. This was normally done in under a minute. It took Charlie 30 seconds, to target the strip and let fly with arty and rockets. |
